HTC Evo Shift 4G Android Slider Phone, A Worthy Opponent? (Brief Review)

Priced around $119 (at amazon), powered by a 800Mhz single core processor with its 512MB RAM, the HTC Evo Shift 4G is a pretty impressive android phone. It looks solid and when considering the weight and height-width, etc it is a solid piece!.

Ain't she something!

It comes with the android 2.2 Froyo edition + has the HTC's sense as well. Let's have look at the other hardware specifications first.

*. 3.6 Inch 800x480 resolution of touch sensitive screen (16M colors).

*. Full QWERTY keyboard thanks to the slide-out design.

*. Powered by the Sprint 4G + 3G, Wi-Fi, WIMax and Bluetooth are all there.

*. GPS and AGPS.

*. 5MP camera with HD video capturing (auto focus, 4x digital zoom and dual-LED flash).

*. 2GB of internal memory (eMMC).

*. By default MP3, WMA, and AAC music formats and MPEG4, WMV, and H.263/H.264 formats are supported.

*. Up to 32GB of external memory upgrade supported.

*. Talk time - Up to 360 minutes or 6 hours.

Some users went as far as to say that the QWERTY keypad is actually an unnecessary part concerning the "awesome" touch screen's inbuilt virtual keypad. But heavy SMS and Facebook fans will appreciate it nonetheless.

Another very important thing. The processor runs at 800Mhz but since it is a Qualcomm MSM7630 second generation CPU it outperforms some of the 1Ghz too!. So make no mistakes.. inside Shift 4G live both a girl and a giant ;-).

One really cannot complain about the app support no all android phones thanks to thousands of world wide developers. For instance if you want more multimedia support then install another player from the android market.

So as a humble conclusion the if you want a cheap android phone with powerful abilities + impressive solidness, then the HTC Evo Shift 4G is one of the best smart phones that you can get.
